Deborah Hennessee currently sees clients in both our Los Gatos offices and by Teletherapy.
Deborah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who completed her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University. She has also finished an MA in Research and Experimental Psychology from San Jose State University. Her thesis topic concerned life stress, problem-focused coping, and positive affect. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Communications, graduating Summa Cum Laude and with Departmental Honors.
At Nugent Family Counseling Center, Deborah’s areas of focus include life stress, life transitions, including academic and career changes, traumatic stress, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. Deborah creates an environment of acceptance, where the client experiences compassion and empathy. She is an integrationist, and applies evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused, using a trauma-informed and positive psychology-framed approach. Deborah works with clients in a manner that empowers them to increase their well-being and life satisfaction.
Prior to joining Nugent Family Counseling Center, Deborah had seven years of experience counseling individuals, families, children, couples and facilitating groups at a community agency that focuses on reducing domestic violence. She worked with the Santa Clara County Court facilitating groups for Trauma, Teen DV, Co-and Parallel Parenting. She also has over six years of experience serving as a Crisis Counselor in the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Department.
Deborah is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter(SCV-CAMFT). She is a lifetime member of the California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (CALPCC).
