
Deborah Hennessee sees clients in by teletherapy and in-person
Deborah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a MA in Research and Experimental Psychology through San Jose State University. Her thesis topic concerned life stress, problem-focused coping, and positive affect. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Communications, graduating Summa Cum Laude and with Departmental Honors.
At Nugent Family Counseling Center, Deborah’s areas of focus include life stress and transitions, including academic and career changes, traumatic stress, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. Deborah creates an environment of acceptance and compassion. She applies evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused, using a trauma-informed and positive psychology-framed approach. Deborah’s goal is to empower clients to increase their own well-being and life satisfaction.
Prior to joining Nugent Family Counseling Center, Deborah spent seven years counseling individuals, families, children, couples and facilitating groups at a community agency that focuses on reducing domestic violence. She worked with Santa Clara County Court facilitating groups for Trauma, Co-and Parallel Parenting. She has six years of experience serving as a Crisis Counselor in the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Department.
Deborah is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter(SCV-CAMFT). She is a lifetime member of the California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (CALPCC).
