As a trained EMDR therapist Regina specializes in treating clients struggling with trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, depression, attachment wounds, domestic violence, abuse, sexual abuse, addiction, anxiety, self-esteem, shame, and relational challenges.  Regina’s background includes roles in community mental health, private practice, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs, Behavioral Health, divorce process/custody battles, and supporting clients through a wide variety of various mental health needs.

Currently, in addition to working with clients at Nugent Family Counseling, Regina also provides psychotherapy in a Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program in which she supports high acuity adult and adolescent clientele with co-occurring disorders, addiction, trauma,  and personality disorders. Regina has led therapeutic groups along with her telehealth or in-person sessions with individual, couples, and families. She is an associate Certified Sex Addiction Therapist candidate (CSAT). Regina is an active member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and is currently working toward becoming EMDRIA certified. 

Regina believes that all human beings are resilient and capable of change and deep healing in the right environment and with the right support. Using a trauma informed lens, Regina integrates EMDR, Somatic Interventions, and relational modalities to create a safe and nurturing environment for her clients to experience deep-rooted and long lasting growth and recovery. She finds it rewarding and motivating see the path her patients take walking into their first sessions to leaving their last ones transformed, with an increase in confidence, skills, and tools to navigate the rest of their journey. She is honored and passionate about doing the work that she does.

1.) The Myth of Normal by Gabor Mate. 2.) Anchored: How to befriend your nervous system using Polyvagal theory by Deb Dana. 3.) The Body keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D.
